Cantaloupe Hotels was established in 2010 with the lead of Dmitri Jayasuriya. The first opening of the hotel chain began in December 2010 in Talpe, Unawatuna. In 2013 and 2014, the next opening took place. This time, the hotel had locations in Galle and Midigama, Weligama respectively. The group is even an award-winning chain even with so little a portfolio. They were given the Gold Award in the 10th Annual W3Awards for their comprehensive website that has brought most of their sales through the smooth online booking service. They were also given the same website recognition in the 22nd Communicator Awards.

The hotel chain is also a winner in luxury travel accommodation categories. This occurred twice. One of those was in 2016, which was the highlight of all the achievements of the brand as that marked their best time in the markets as well. With the Asia and Australasia Awards handing them that award, they were definitely on a great publicity roll and position in the industry. The Cantaloupe Hotels took advantage of that and started conceptualizing more projects for extensions and additions to their existing hotels (amenities, services, discount promos, etc.). The group continued to flourish and is now a known figure in the Oceanian and Asian travel sectors.
