Claresholm Community Centre, Claresholm, Alberta, Canada
The Claresholm Community Centre is located in the town of Claresholm in Alberta, Canada. It was built in 1978 and is maintained and governed largely by a board consisting of Claresholm residents. Among its facilities is a main hall, which can accommodate parties of over 500 people. Its lodge room is smaller and has a capacity of less than 200 and also includes a kitchen and a piano. The meeting room is the most intimate, suited for meetings of groups less than 70, such as town community assemblies.
Claresholm is located in southern Alberta. Among the communities situated near the community center is the town of Coaldale and the city of Lethbridge, which is also Alberta’s third largest and most populated city. One of the tourist attractions to catch in Lethbridge is the eccentrically named Fort Whoop-Up. Formerly Fort Hamilton, this was a trading post that took part in the illegal whiskey trade during the 19th century. The history of southern Alberta is on view at the Galt Museum and Archives, which features over 20,000 artifacts that attest to this. Lethbridge also has a bit of rural Japan as seen in the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, a man-made Japanese-style garden created by faculty at the Osaka Prefecture University. Some of the quality accommodations located near and around Claresholm include the four-star Lazy J Motel, a casual motel with small but comfy and well-equipped rooms. The Bluebird Motel has a more suburban homey feel, as its rooms are decorated with welcoming furnishings and its street and backyard are decorated with blooming flowers.
