Dun na Si Heritage Centre, Moate, Ireland
Lying on the outskirts of Moate, Ireland is the Dun na Si Heritage Centre, where people can know about the history of Ireland, from the ancient magical stone circle to what it’s like to live in a farmhouse. The heritage center is composed of various buildings with different stories. There’s a historical Ring Fort and Mass Rock, where locals prayed during the persecution, and a hedge school where kids were taught about Latin and Greek. Visitors can also learn about the conventional crafts and trades of Ireland’s countryside at Blacksmith’s Forge, as well as see how nets are made at a Fisherman’s Cottage. A farm, a museum, and an exhibition are the other attractions at the site.
The Dun na Si Heritage Centre forms the community park of Moate along with the Dun na Si Amenity Park. Almost a mile southeast of the park is the Tuar Ard Arts Centre, where visitors of all ages can take part in different activities relating to drama, film, art, and history. Families and groups of friends will also find fun at Moate Golf Club, and at Mount Temple Golf Club in the nearby village of Mount Temple. In the other neighboring settlements of Moate, there are choices of hotels for visitors. In Athlone, there is the Great National Creggan Court Hotel, which boasts two restaurants and provides direct access to activity sites. Meanwhile, the Wineport Lodge in Glasson offers luxurious air-conditioned rooms and spa treatments, while the Woodlands Farm near the Streamstown provides a relaxing environment and activities like horse riding.
