Dushanbe – A Beautiful City Overlooked
Dushanbe, Tajikistan is ideally situated where two rivers merge, rivers Varzob and Kofarnihon. This city is roughly the size of Greece but doesn’t usually make it to the top tourist destinations list. However, there is beauty in the city, especially with almost all of the building projects of the past completed, what travelers will see now is a city that’s built around parks, fountains, and lakes. Travelers will book a flight landing at the Dushanbe International Airport (DYU), the airport serving the city.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to go to Dushanbe is from the months of June to September. The weather during this time should be pretty pleasant, not too warm and not too cold, making it perfect for outdoor activities. Summer and winter are generally avoided because it is either too hot or too cold.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Learn more about the city, its history and culture with a visit to the Tajikistan National Museum, housed in a magnificent building. A popular landmark that shouldn’t be missed when in the city is the Somoni Monument. It’s also a great backdrop for the perfect souvenir photo. Spend a lazy morning or afternoon simply strolling through Victory Park and watch the locals go by and pass by their day. It is a beautiful park made in honor of the Great Patriotic War. Lastly, catch a stunning performance at the Dushanbe Opera.
