Eger: City of Red Wine and Rad Architecture
Eger, Hungary, the second biggest city in the northern region of the country, brings visitors from all over the world for its impressive red wines, Baroque-inspired infrastructures, and thermal baths. Many theories arise from where its name is derived from. One of them being from Alger, which is Egerfa in Hungarian, a flowering plant which grew generously around the city. Eger sits on the Eger Stream at the foot of the Bukk Mountains.

It is cloudy all-year round in the city and the months of June to August have the warmest temperature. Eger hotels are conveniently located near plenty of the city’s attractions. The Centrooms Park Eger is a walking distance to the Egri Planetarium. The castle has stood in the city since the 13th century, has a Gothic architecture, and an art gallery and museum is found on its basement. The Ottoman Minaret, also another prime hotspot, is a 40 meters high tower next to a church. Visit the Valley of the Beautiful Woman to get a taste of the famed local red wine, Egri Bikaver. The Csillagtura Panzio is near the valley.
