Funspot Family Fun Center, Laconia, New Hampshire, United States Of America
Funspot Family Fun Center is dubbed as the globe’s biggest arcade. It is nestled in the Weirs Beach village in Laconia, New Hampshire and features an extensive array of games dating back to the late 1970s. Funspot, as it is fondly called, was established back in 1952 by Bob Lawton. It was then referred to as Weirs Sport Center and was strategically situated on the boardwalk overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. The place boomed as families visiting during the wet season would usually hang out in the center while the rains poured outside. In 1964, Bob finally acquired enough funds to relocate his arcade to a 21-acre land just down the road.
While visiting Funspot, be sure to make a stopover at Belknap Mill Society Museum in Laconia, as well. This early 1820's building serves as the official meeting house of the state and the only industrial knitting museum in the country. If you’re a more laid-back type and truly enjoy being outdoors, you will surely enjoy a visit to the Opechee Park Cove Beach and Opechee Point Beach, where a panoramic view of the Opechee Bay seascape awaits you. These beaches are only a 22-minute walk from Lake Opechee Inn and Spa, a 3.5-star hotel serving free continental breakfast. It also features an indoor pool and a full-service spa. If you are swinging by the town of Gilford, might as well stay at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Gilford, where you can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast, a 24-hour fitness center, and an indoor pool.
