Glenorchy: From Reel to Real
Glenorchy, New Zealand sits at the end of Lake Wakatipu and is less than an hour ride away from the busy Queenstown. It was coined after a valley in Scotland called Glen Orchy. As the town is close to at least two national parks, it has become a popular tourist destination, especially for the thrill-seekers of the outdoor adventures. It has also been popularized by pop films such as Lord of the Rings and Narnia that held their shootings in the area.
Best Time to Visit
It is during the first half of the year when Glenorchy is busiest and most crowded. Given the fact that it is summer during those months, you can also expect Glenorchy NZ hotels to have more expensive rates than usual. If you want to avoid the hassle of a huge tourist crowd, it is best to visit the town during October and November when the weather is most comfortable too.
