La Digue: A Tranquil and Idyllic Sun Vacation Destination
La Digue is the fifth largest island of the Seychelles, an archipelago located in the Indian Ocean. Unlike other islands in the Seychelles, La Digue has remained mostly untouched, its beautiful coastline lined with breathtaking beaches. La Digue is the third most populated island in the archipelago, but amazingly, people get around by riding bicycles, as taxis, trucks and electric carts are rare.
Best Time to Visit
La Digue has calm, comfortable weather during the months of April to May and October to November, perfect for a vacation. Months from July to August and December to January are busiest, so book your La Digue hotel in advance if your vacation falls during these months. La Digue Festival falls in August, so be prepared for higher rates.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Swim and snorkel – and if you’re lucky, spot some dolphins – in Anse Patates, which can be found in the north of the La Digue Island. Only a few decide to go to Anse Patates, making it a really peaceful and tranquil beach. The currents could be strong, though, so stay close to the shore. Take photographs and enjoy the golden sandy beach and the clear waters of Anse Cocos, set amidst abandoned buildings. Take the whole family to the family-friendly Source d’Argent, which is protected by coral reefs and therefore safe to swim in. Make the Kaz Ladouceur bed and breakfast your home away from home on your La Digue holiday. You can also book the highly recommended Le Repaire - Boutique Hotel & Restaurant or the very accommodating Le Domaine De L’Orangeraie.
