What to Do & Area Attractions
The Medjugorje Shrine features a statue of The Lady of Medjugorje, which is visited by crowds from countries all over the world, seeking to simply worship or pray to the Lady. The shrine is located on the plaza of another religious site in Medjugorje - St. James Church. The first church on the site was built in 1897 but then was rebuilt after the First World War. It is believed the construction of the church was divinely guided so that the parish would eventually become a sacred center for worship. One of the most picturesque Medjugorje accommodations is the Herceg Etno Selo Medugorje, which has stone houses and an outdoor pool that looks more like a beach, overlooking the nearby mountain range.
