During the Second World War, the airport was occupied by the German Air Force, who left it damaged when the war ended. In 1952, the airport was rebuilt and expanded, now having three runways. During the 2000s, the Morlaix – Ploujean Airport (MXN) was home to the head office of HOP!, a French airline. The airport is surrounded by the commune of Perros-Guirec, famous for its family-friendly beaches. Perros-Guirec is also home to the village of Ploumanac’h, which was voted as ‘the village most preferred by the French.’
