Palmas: Brazil’s Newest City
The capital city of the Tocantins State in Brazil, Palmas was originally an agricultural area developed in 1990 to provide the locals more and better jobs. Located in the heart of Brazil, Palmas serves as a gateway to many nature attractions. You can get to Palmas Brazil through the Palmas – Brigadeiro Lysias Rodrigues Airport (PMW).
Best Time to Visit
Months of October, February and January are the busiest months in the city so make sure to book your Palmas, Brazil accommodations and flights early. September is off-season and you will most likely get great hotel deals. To see greens and flowers, schedule your visit in months of April or May, after the rains.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Walk along the shore and watch the sunset (but don’t swim!) in Praia da Graciosa, which comes alive with people who want to bike, take a stroll or just groove to the music when the sun goes down. Go for an early morning jog or a late afternoon stroll at Cesamar Park, and you are guaranteed to have a good time basking in the greens, breathing in the fresh air and seeing capybaras roaming freely. Experience entertainment, cultural and art shows in Espaco Cultural de Palmas, which houses the Fernanda Montenegro Theater. Rest and recreate at the end of the day at Munart Hotel, which is but a kilometer from Espaco. You can also book your stay at the guest favorite 103 Hotel & Flats or the highly recommended Jalapao Hotel.
