The Rock of Gibraltar is one of the prominent landmarks known in Gibraltar. It is a monolithic land feature with a height of 1,398 ft. The upper portion of the rock is covered with wildlife refuge and is a home of around 300 monkeys in specie of Barbary macaques. It is known mostly to Romans because it is part of Hercules Pillars. This gigantic rock is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. The wild refuge above the rock that consists of different floras and Faunas are protected by the law. A Saying is themed on the rock, which states that “solid as the Rock of Gibraltar” which is compared to the mighty and firm stand of the rock.

It is one of the 2 batteries created used as a power source of a 100-ton war gun. History is deep-rooted on those batteries and parts of it are still used by the Gibraltar Fire Station.
