Sheridan: A Stoic City
Part of the Ottawa – Streator Micropolitan Statistical Area, Sheridan, Illinois is a small US village with a population of no more than 3000. It is accessible from the Illinois Regional Valley Airport (VYS) which is less than 40 minutes away. There are unfortunately no commercial flights available at the said airport but charter flights can be arranged. Sheridan is a village of equal rural and urban mix.
Best Time to Visit
Sheridan, IL has hot summers and freezing winters. The weather can be too uncomfortable during summer but these are the busiest months for the village. It is recommended to visit between the months of April-May and September-October as these have generally cool temperatures and clear skies. Less visitors are also expected during these months and prices of Sheridan, Illinois hotels are affordable.
What to Do & Area Attractions
People who collect antiquities will surely be delighted to find Prindi’s Antique Mall 15 minutes away from the city. Arts on Fire is a paint your own pottery studio to unleash the creative side of you. It is only 20 minutes away from the city. Farnsworth House, part of the National Register of Historic Places, is also 20 minutes away and is a riveting place to learn about architecture. Also get to stroll around the Goold Park and the Peru Mall if you still have the time. As you notice, most of these attractions are a bit far from the city as there are not a lot of attractions in Sheridan itself. There are limited Sheridan, IL hotels in the city proper. One of the few includes Holiday Inn Club Vacations Fox River Resort – a luxurious hotel 9 minutes away. Another great option is The Montcler Hotel – Trademark Collection by Wyndham less than 20 minutes away. Hampton Inn Ottawa, IL is just nearby as well as the budget-friendly Quality Inn.
