Skedsmo: Summer or Winter, It Does Not Matter When You Visit
Skedsmo, Norway is a town that is part of the traditional region of Romerike in Akershus County. The town’s name was taken after the Old Norse word Skeidsmor which would roughly translate into “running track for horse racing and a moor.” The town is easily accessible as the Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL), an international airport, is only less than half an hour away. It was the year of 1838 when the town was established and has long been a growing industrial area.
Best Time to Visit
There is only a short time when the weather in Skedsmo is comfortable enough for walking tours or outdoor explorations. Otherwise, the town is very cold, drops below freezing point, and is even buried deep in snow especially during winter. The short period in which it is best to visit the town is between late June and early August. Watch out for the occasional light to moderate rain showers. Skedsmo hotels are cheaper during these times as most tourists tend to visit during winter for winter-related activities.
