Trieste – Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport – TRS
The Trieste – Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport, formerly known as Trieste – Ronchidei Legionari Airport, is an international airport in Northeastern Italy. The airport is located more than half kilometre west of Ronchidei Legionari commune and serves Trieste, Venezia Giulia and the nearby towns of Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. The Trieste – Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport, whose airport code is TRS, dates back to 1935 when the Royal Italian Air Force 4th Fighter Wing used it as its base. It was only in 1961 that the airport was started in public and commercial use.

From Trieste – Ronchidei Legionari Airport, it was renamed in 2007 to its present name in honor of Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, a 19th-century humanitarian explorer of Africa. The operator and owner of the airport is Aeroporto Friuli Venezia Giulia S.P.A.. with Friuli Venezia Giulia Region as its sole shareholder. The airport has experienced significant growth of low-cost and cargo traffic in the past few years. As of this time, the airport has a catchment area of five million people. You can easily drive to the tourists' sites of the town of Piran in Slovenia from the airport.
