Visakhapatnam Airport- VTZ
Visakhapatnam Airport is a military and public airport owned by the Indian navy and serves the areas of Visakhapatnam, India. The airport is located in an area between Gajuwaka and the NAD Cross Road. A significant number of passenger traffic was experienced in the airport during the start of the 21st century. A new terminal was launched during this time to be able to accommodate international flights. A total of 350 acres covers the whole area of the airport. VTZ Airport opened in 1981 and began its public operations with one flight a day.
Best Time to Visit
Two runways are available in the airport. The original runways built and used during its inaguaration is 1,800 meters long. The new one was opened in June 2007 and measures 3,050 meter by 45 meters. The new airport is capable of accommodating medium-sized and aircrafts with wide bodies. An instrument loading system was also added to the airport during its renovation and expansions. Initially intended for military use, the ILS later became operational for commercial aircrafts in March 2008. Its new terminal building was opened in February 2009. For recreational activities, Rushikonda is one of the areas best for tourism located nearby.

VTZ Airport hotels are not yet available within the airport’s vicinity but there are plenty of nearby hotels and accommodations in the area. A few include Fairfield by Marriott Visakapatnam and Best Western Ramachandra. Local attractions and conveniences are also situated close to these areas.
