Xaghra: The Lazy Town
Xaghra is a small town located at the North East of the island of Gozo in Malta. Its name was taken from the word “Xaghret I-Ghazzenin” which means land of the lazy ones as farmers would usually visit Xaghra with their flock letting them feed on grass while they relax the whole day. Xaghra boasts an interesting and long history due to its tourist spots that history lovers would surely like.

Xaghra is a town of history thus the attractions hold stories that are from many years ago. One is the Ggantija Temples which is included in the Guinness Book of World Record “oldest free standing structures in the world”. Xerri’s Grotto and Ninu’s Cave are also recommended as they display a great view of stalactite and stalagmite caves. Tourists can also enjoy having fun playing in the water by swimming at Ramla Bay which is an interesting reddish gold sand beach and sand dunes. Visitors could also visit the Parish Church of Xaghra which they dedicate to Our Lady of Victories which is also known as il-Bambina. After touring the small town, tourists can have their rest at Bellavista Farmhouses Gozo, which is located just minutes away from the town center and where they can continue their swim.
