Located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, it is also known as the Macdonald-Cartier International Airport. It is named after the two founding fathers of Canada, Sir John A. Macdonald and Sir George-Etienne Carter. Operating under the airport code YOW, it is owned by Transport Canada and is operated by the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority. It is the focus city for airlines like Porter Airlines, Air Canada, and Air Canada Express, the country’s flag carrier. YOW is the sixth busiest airport in Canada and in 2018, it handled over 5.1 million passengers.

The airport started as a military airport and was called ‘Uplands’, in reference to its location. By the 1950s, it was still named Uplands but was jointly used by the military and by commercial airlines. In 1964, it was renamed to Ottawa International Airport. It got its final name in 1993. There are two distinct airfields, connected by a taxiway. Terminal renovation and upgrades were done in the late 2000s.
