Ashburton Aerodrome– ASG
The Ashburton Aerodrome (ASG) is a small airport located in the east of Ashburton, South Island in New Zealand. The public airport is operated by the Ashburton Airport Authority. In the 1980s, the Newmans Air ran a Christchurch to Queenstown flight service visa Ashburton which connects skiers to the nearby ski field of Mt. Hutt.
Best Time to Visit
At present, the ASG-Ashburton Aerodrome in Ashburton, New Zealand operates with a pilot-controlled lighting runway. ASG is the recognized as the first airport in South Island owned by a local body and the second in New Zealand. The Ashburton Aerodome occupies 100 hectares of land on the outskirts of Ashburton, 5.5 kilometers from the town center. ASG airport has four grass runways, a parachute dropping zone, microlight operations, aerobatic box, and navigational aid. Upon your arrival or before you board your flight, make sure to visit the nearby cities of Christchurch and Governors Bay.
