Ballina: Exploring Australia’s Big Prawn Town
Ballina, New South Wales is a town in Australia that is very famous because of its big prawn model. Located in the Northern Rivers region, the town is the seat of the Ballina Shire local government area. Ballina serves as a gateway to Byron Bay as it lies in the Richmond River, providing great marine life, recreational fishing and water sports. With a population of about 26,381 residents since its June 2018 survey, the town has great historical roots. Its original name, “Bullenah” is derived from the Bundjalung Aboriginal language that means “a place where oysters are plentiful." Getting to Ballina is very easy through the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport, the main airport serving the town. You can also access Ballina though the Casino Airport and Lismore Airport.
Best Time to Visit
Having an ideal weather is what most tourists prefer to visit. Ballina, NSW has its two major periods for fair weather conditions. You can either visit here from March 26 to June 24 or from August 20 to November 25. July is Ballina’s busiest month. The next busier months are August and September. During these months, tourists can expect high Ballina hotel rates and expensive fights. May is the least visited month due to unfavorable weather. During this month, flights and accommodations are cheap.
