It is located in the city centre and serves Chiang Rai, Thailand and the nearby towns. The Mae FahLuang-Chiang Rai International Airport, whose airport code is CEI, has its name taken from Princess Srinagarindra, mother of the previous monarch Bhumibol Adhulyadej. The airport is served by 9 airlines and hub for Thai Air Asia. In 2013, the airport has served over 1 million passengers and 7 thousand passenger flights.

The CEI-Mae FahLuang - Chiang Rai International Airport has undergone expansion as announced by authorities in 1914 which include construction of additional taxiway and shops and extension of runway to be completed in 2030. The airport has terminal facilities to suit passengers’ needs such as ATM machines, restaurants, cafes, bakery, ice cream parlor, fashion boutiques, souvenir store, newsagent and bookshop.Other facilities include left-luggage facilities, medical treatment room, meditation room, prayer room, and spa. As of this time, the airport accommodates three international flights toHaikou Meilan International Airport, Kunming Changshui International Airport, and Hong Kong International Airport. You can easily drive to the tourists' sites of Ban Dong Ma tun, and Huai Khrai from the airport.
