Coimbatore International Airport- CJB
Coimbatore International Airport is one of the main airports under the Airports Authority of India and owned by the government. It is located in Coimbatore, India and serves the areas of Namakkal, Tirupur, Salem, Nilgiris, Erode and Coimbatore Metropolitan Area. CJB airport is one of the primary airports in the region that sits 6 miles away from the city center. The airport is considered to be the 18th busiest airport in India in terms of passenger traffic. CJB comes second after Chennai International Airport in terms of airport size.
Best Time to Visit
There is one runway in use in the airport, 2,970 meters in length. This can accommodate larger aircrafts. Aerobridges, LIS and parking bays were added to the airport during its expansion in 2008. Further expansions in 2010 were made adding a new international and domestic area to the old common terminal. Coimbatore International Airport has two hangars on the airport and provides a home for the Coimbatore Flying Club. Currently, the airport can accommodate aircrafts as big as the Boeing 787. Additional parking bays and new aerobridges are currently being added to the airport. Muligoor, Gudalur and Pykara are some nearby village where you can see tea growing destinations and other fun activities.
