Cuero: Coolest City in America
Unofficially dubbed as the Turkey Capital of the World, Cuero, TX was recognized by Budget Travel Magazine as one of the Coolest Small Towns in America on 2010. The city was named after the Spanish word “hide” or the leather made from the skin of animals. While the “cuero” industry didn’t last long in the city, the thriving turkey industry did keep the town economically viable. The closest major airport in the area is the Victoria Regional Airport.
Best Time to Visit
Cuero, TX hotels are at their cheapest during the months of December to January. Peak season starts from the end of March to September. If you want the best hotel rates, you can book months in advance for these dates. The tourism is starting to pick up during December though with the introduction of Cuero’s Christmas at the Park where locals and tourists can shop and eat starting Thanksgiving up until the New Years. You can also visit during the off-peak season for cheap lodging. Be prepared because daily temperature is usually around 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cuero, Texas is home to a full range of hotels including the Baymont by Wyndham Cuero, and the America’s Best Value Inn & Suites Cuero, which sits close to several attractions. Some accommodations, like the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cuero, are close to a lot of local attractions in thw area. Close by are a variety of attractions from the Cuero Municipal Golf Course to the Berclair Mansion. Families with kids will love the Children’s Discovery Museum. You can enjoy touring the Texas Zoo. The Lighthouse Beach is also a great option for a day of lazy leisure.
