A joint civil-military airport in Houston, Texas is Ellington Airport. It is situated 17 miles southeast of Houston’s downtown and is owned by the city of Houston. The airport was previously known as the Ellington Field and Ellington Air Force Base. The Ellington Airport is classified by the National Plan on Integrated Airports System as a general aviation reliever airport for 2011-2015. The Lone Star Flight Museum is housed in the airport is showcasing the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame. Ellington Airport is also home to the nation’s commercial spaceport, the Houston Spaceport.
