Grand Rapids, Michigan has a commercial airport named Gerald R. Ford International Airport. Although managed by an independent authority, the Kent County Board of Commissioners owns the airport. The airport was named after the 38th President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford, who was also the House Representative of Grand Rapids from 1949 to 1973. It serves 31 domestic airport flights and is the second largest airport in Michigan next to Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
