Presidente Itamar Franco Airport (IZA) is an airport strategically located a few kilometers from the downtowns of Juiz de Fora, Ubá, and Cataguases. It primarily serves Juiz de Fora and the region of Zona da Mata in Brazil. It was in 2012 when it was renamed after the 33rd President of Brazil. It was formerly called Zona da Mata Regional Airport and many still refer to the airport with that name.The airport welcomes an approximate passenger traffic of 148,000 per year.

IZA Airport was completed in 2007 but it was only in 2011 when commercial operations finally kicked off. In 2011, administration of the airport changed hands and in 2015, Socicam became the airport’s new manager. IZA Airport provides the best air transport option in the region as it operates daily flights that offer connections to domestic destinations like São Paulo and Campinas as well as to some international stops. Traveling to Rio Pomba, Andrelandia and Correia de Almeida is accessible from the airport.
