Kawthaung Airport – KAW
Kawthaung Airport is a public-use airfield found 15 minutes away from the city center of Kawthaung, Myanmar, in the southernmost portion of the country. The airport is under the rule of the region of Tanintharyi and primarily handles the passenger traffic from Kawthaung, a city that thrives in fishing and agricultural products. It is assigned the International Air Transport Association (IATA) airport code of KAW and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) airport code of VYKT.
Best Time to Visit
The airfield is constructed at an elevation of 55 meters above the mean sea level. It features a tiny terminal with no gates and a single runway numbered as 02/20. The asphalt-paved airstrip runs to a length of a little over 1,800 meters and a width of 50 meters. Currently, Air KBZ and Myanmar National Airlines connect the city of Kawthaung to various parts of Thailand and Myanmar. From the airfield, you can easily reach the town of Ranong, which is separated from Kawthaung by Kraburi River.

While there are no available accommodations within the airport itself, guests can still stay at the fancy beachfront hotel of Victoria Cliff Hotel & Resort, which is just a seven-minute drive from Kawthaung Airport. This hotel provides an outdoor pool and an in-house restaurant and bar. Victoria Cliff Hotel & Resort also offers airport transfers to their guests. Both accommodations are about a 17-minute drive from the airfield and provide free breakfast as well. There are more hotels in the nearby Ranong, with the posh The Blue Sky Resort Ranong and the Tinidee Hotel @ Ranong, located just 8 miles from the airport.
