Khrabrovo Airport – KGD Airport
The Khrabrovo Airport is also known in historic documents as the Powunden Airfield. It is the airport that serves the city of Kaliningrad. The airport has scheduled domestic flights but is also used as a military base for the Russian Air Force.

The airport is named after the nearby village of Khrabrovo. The history of the KGD Airport dates back to 1922 when Deruluft started its first international flight, but World War II took the airfield for military use. It wasn’t until the 1960s that the airport regained civilian transport. Later on in 2016, Khrabrovo airport changed ownership to Novaport. In 2017, the airport faced modernization and construction of a new terminal took place in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The passenger terminal was reconstructed, and the runway was enlarged aside from the installation of new and modern equipment. All construction was completed on April 2018. It is a simple airport with arrivals on the lower floor and the departures on the upper floor. The redevelopment of the airport has seen an increase in passengers and an overall improvement of passenger experience. Surrounding cities like the Bolshoye Isakovo and Maraunenhof use the Khrabrovo Airport for travels.
