Kunming Changshui International Airport is a major public airport that serves the area of Kunming, Yunnan and its nearby regions. Operated by the Yunnan Airport Group, it serves as the main hub for the following airlines - Kunming Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Lucky Air, Hongtu Airlines, Riuli Airlines and Sichuan Airlines to name a few. KMG airport sits 15.2 miles away from the city center. It is opened in June 2012 and replaced the old Kunming Wujiaba International Airport, which was later on demolished.

KMG - Chnagsui International Airport features two runways and had a record high of 37.5 million passengers back in 2015. It is one of the busiest airports in terms of passenger traffic in the world, landing on the 50th spot. Kunming Changsui International Airport is considered to be one of the national gateway hub airports located in China. Close to the airport is the township of Chenggong. This coastal area offers many local attractions as well as tribal headquarters ad scenic natural beaches to explore.
