Leon: A Day in the Agricultural and Commercial Region in Nicaragua
Leon, Nincaragua is the capital of the Leon Department and the second largest city in the republic. The region is close to the Chiquito River and just east of the Pacific Ocean coastal areas. The region, since its founding in 1813 has always been the intellectual and political center of the country. Several notable artists came from the region - classical composer Jose de la Cruz Mea, poets Alfonso Cortes, Azarias Pallais and Antenor Sandino. The city is twinned with Oxford, United Kingdom, Leon, Mexico as well as Alicante, Spain.
Best Time to Visit
The dry season is also the high season for tourism and guest heading to Leon, Nicaragua hotels. There is little or almost no rain in Leon during the months of December to April. The second week of February welcomes the International Poetry Festival while the Handicraft Festival is held during April.
