Merry Little Town called Mariestad
Mariestad, Sweden is an enchanting river town by the mouth of the Tidan River. It was established in the early 15th century by a duke who had later ruled the country as King Charles IX. The town’s name was from his wife, Marie of Pfalz. Mariestad is slowly becoming a tourist destination for its long-standing history and its calming environment.
Best Time to Visit
There is only a short time wherein Mariestad is not cold to freezing. These are during the middle of the year months from early June to early August. Otherwise, moderate to heavy snow or rain are experienced in town. These summer months are the months when the town is busiest and Mariestad, Sweden hotels are less affordable. Midsommar Festival is held every June.
