Macapá International Airport – MCP
Known internationally by its IATA location identifier MCP, Macapá International Airport is a public airport, which serves the city of Macapá, Brazil, in the state of Amapa. The airport is locally known to as Alberto AlcolumbreAiport, as well, referring to a businessman native to the area. Currently, the Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária handles the operations of the airport.

Macapá International Airport (MCP) was officially established in 1970. It features a single asphalt-paved runway with a length of 2,100 meters. In 2019, the airport opened a new terminal in the area, increasing the overall passenger capacity of the airport. The old terminal building is up for demolition as space will be used to expand the apron. You can only reach Macapá via air from Belem, Recife, and Brasilia, whose flights are regularly scheduled by the three airlines serving Macapá International Airport, Azul Brazilian Airlines, Gol Airlines, and LATAM Brasil.

The closest hotel to the airport is the Atlanta Hotel, which is a mere 1-mile drive from Macapá International Airport. However, if you’re into accommodations near the riverbank, the best places to stay at are the Magnu’s Plaza Hotel and Hotel do Forte, both of which are about a little over a mile from the airfield. They are both near the city center, so shops and restaurants are easily within walking distance. Both hotels also offer buffet breakfast to complete the stay.
