New Plymouth Airport- NPL
Known by the IATA airport code of NPL, New Plymouth Airport is a public-use airfield owned and operated by the New Plymouth District Council. It can be found on the west coast of North Island, about eleven kilometers from the center of New Plymouth, New Zealand. The airfield primarily handles the passenger traffic from the city of New Plymouth and the neighboring towns in the Taranaki region. It once served as a Royal New Zealand Air Force Bell Block Airbase during the World War II, a few years after it was opened in 1933.

The New Plymouth Airport boasts of two domestic terminal buildings, one of which covers an area of 1,430 square meters and the other covering 420 square meters. The buildings are currently under renovation, which aimed to double the floor sizes to increase passenger capacity. The terminal upgrade will also add new features to the building, such as mechanical baggage claims and security screening. Three airlines provide daily flights from New Plymouth Airport to several destinations across New Zealand.
