Oroklini: The Mountain Meets the Sea
A popular mining site for copper during the ancient times, Oroklini, Cyprus, also known as Voroklini, is now home to no more than 7,000 residents. It is a village situated 50 meters above sea level and is perched on a hill. Oroklini’s name is said to be derived from greek words “oros” which means mountain and “klinin” which means rich – therefore, it is a rich (possibly pertaining to copper) mountain village. The nearest airport serving the village is Larnaca International Airport (LCA), which is 20 minutes away.
