Porto Alegre International Airport Salgado Filho also known as Salgado Filho International Airport is an international airport that serves areas located near Porto Alegre, Brazil. POA-Salgado Filho Intl. was named after the first minister of the Brazilian Airforce-Joaquim Pedro Salgado Filho. The airport was dedicated as Sao Joao Federal Airport and had its first flight in 1923. It took its present name in October 1951 after the death of the Minister. Fraport is currently operating it, a German private operator after the government auction for the concession of the airport.
