The Sarajevo International Airport with the airport code SJJ, is located in Butmir, Ilidza in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is just west of the country’s capital Sarajevo. In 2018, an estimated 1 million or so passengers travelled through this international airport, which is an exponential increase compared to the 323,499 passengers that travelled through it in 2001. Sarajevo International Airport also serves as the hub for FlyBosnia. Aside from Sarajevo, Sarajevo International Airport also serves the neighboring cities of Kobilja, Hotonj, and Vogosca.

The airport sits at an elevation of 1,708 feet. The first flights into Sarajevo started in the 1930s. This was done through an airfield in Butmir. The construction of the Sarajevo International Airport in its new location began in 1966. It opened in 1969. At present, it is one of the busiest airports in the country and in 2017, plans for terminal expansion were announced and was scheduled to be completed in 2020. Some of the airlines that operate regularly scheduled flights into the Sarajevo International Airport include Air Arabia, Eurowings, and Aegean Airlines.
