Stanthorpe: A Spectacular Countryside in Queensland
Stanthorpe, Australia is a rural town in the Southern Downs Region of Queensland. It is located in an area known as the Granite Belt. It was founded by tin miners who came from many countries in the 1870s. And it bears a name that literally means 'tintown. There are also numerous wineries in the area being in the region that is nationally recognized for its winemaking.

One of the best times to visit Stanthorpe is during the middle-year months when the cold weather lets you explore the town without having to sweat it out. June to August is the busiest season in Stanthorpe as more tourists come to town as compared to other months. Hotel rates and other travel expenses may cost more than usual so better book your Stanthorpe hotels early if you’re planning to visit especially if you’re attending the longest running Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival, a biennial festival celebrating the region’s produce and wine industry that occurs in March.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Begin by checking out the Stanthorpe Visitor Information Centre for information and assistance to those travelling the area. Then hop on to the Stanthorpe Heritage Museum and spend an afternoon browsing its historical documents & photographs of local families. Lastly, spend a relaxing time at the Stanthorpe Sports and Country Club, a well-run club with an excellent golf course. Near shops and restaurants is the Boulevard Motel, an unpretentious motel. The Vines Motel and Cottages is located in the city center where everything is close by. Then there’s the High Street Motor Inn set opposite Stanthorpe Showground.
