Uzhhorod International Airport – UDJ Uzhhorod
Situated in and serving the city of Uzhhorod and the entire Zakarpattia Oblast in the Ukraine is the small Uzhhorod International Airport. Due to its location adjacent to the Slovakian border, it has a unique operating feature where a special treaty allows its planes to use Slovak airspace for landings and takeoffs because its runway begins 90 meters from the Ukrainian-Slovak international border.
Best Time to Visit
Owned and operated by the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, Uzhhorod International Airport has a single asphalt runway designated 10/28 that measures 6,686 feet (2,038 meters). It handles five flights on three different routes that connect UDJ to the cities of Lviv and Kiev, with Motor Sich Airlines the lone carrier that flies to and from UDJ Uzhhorod. Visitors can easily explore Storozhnytsya, Sobrance, Velke Kapusany, Zahony, and Cierna nad Tisou, which are all less than an hour from Uzhhorod International Airport.
