Larnaca International Airport – Glafcos Clerides is an international airport in Larnaca, Cyprus situated 2.5 miles southwest of the town. The airport serves as the largest of the two commercial airports in the island. It is also the major international gateway that allows nearby cities and towns to travel internationally to Germany, London, Dubai and Egypt to name a few. LCA-Larnaca Intl. was named after Cyprus former president Glafcos Clerides.
Best Time to Visit
There is only one primary passenger terminal in Larnaca International Airport – Glafcos Clerides. Arrivals are served as the ground level while departures at the upper level of the terminal. It serves as an airline hub between Russia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The LCA Airport has handled a record of over 6.6 million passengers in 2016. A second terminal exists but only for private aviation and cargo. Nearby cities surrounding the airport includes Ayios Dhometios, Deryneia and Egkomi.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Long layovers would be more comfortable if you head to the LCA-Larnaca Intl. hotels located near the airport. A short 5-15 minute drive will bring you from the terminal to the Island Boutique Hotel and The Ciao Stelio Deluxe Hotel. Both accommodations are within 2 miles away from Larnaca Airport and also conveniently located near bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the nightlife and fine dining.
Paphos International Airport (PFO) is the closest airport to Larnaca located in the southwestern coast of the Island. The Nicosia International Airport (NIC) is also close but is largely disused.
