Megara: A City Of The Gods
Delving into the deep roots of the Greek civilization, Megara, Greece is one city rich in mythological and archaeological history. It is situated in West Attica, in the northern section of the Isthmus of Corinth and opposite of Salamis Island. Its name was known to be derived from the goddess Demeter’s temples, which were called Megara. The history of the city dates back to 667 BC, where wars and fights for independency took place. The most accessible airport to reach Megara is the Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH).

Summer, particularly during August, in Megara can be really hot and dry with crowded streets. Winter have less crowds, mild weather, and affordable Megara, Greece accommodations and airfare making it an ideal time to visit. Several nearby festivities occur between May and October that are must-sees when in the city.

There are several notable places to visit when in Megara. The Academy of Athens, for one, is Greece’s national academy and the highest research establishment in the country since the 1920's. The academy’s main building is one of the major landmarks in Athens. Another famous and well sought of site is the Acropolis of Athens which is an ancient citadel situated on a rock formation above the city of Athens. Within the citadel are ancient buildings with great architectural and historical significance such as the famous Parthenon.
