Thermopolis: Family Fun with Touches of History and Outdoor Fun
Close to the Worland Municipal Airport, Thermopolis, WY is a destination “hot spot” for geological adventures, history and a destination perfect for tourists of all ages. The city is home to the well-known Hot Springs State Park, the location of “The Big Spring”, the world’s largest mineral hot spring. The destination is also the most celebrated tourist attraction in Wyoming. There are plenty of mineral-laden bodies of water in the region and a number of hot springs to explore and experience. The city’s name, Thermopolis is derived from a hot spring with the same name in the region.

June to August or during the summer season is the busiest time for tourism in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Hotel rates can get too high during this time of the year so you should book early if you want to enjoy the city during these months of the year.
What to Do & Area Attractions
The hot springs in the region are not to be missed and can be easily accessed when you stay at the Best Western Plus Plaza Hotel and the Days Inn by Wyndham Thermopolis. The springs are open to the public and free to use since 1896 as part of the treaty among the Shoshone and Arapaho Tribes and the government during that period. Dinosaur fossils were also discovered in the region on Warm Spring Ranch. You can see these fossils and more at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center. Other interesting destinations in the region include the Sanders Park and the Roundtop Mountain.
